PROFESSIONAL BOXING in the WEST: by Brian Zelley

Introduction:
This page is reserved for a look at Professional
boxing in Alberta and British Columbia
which have both had their ups and downs
over the years, but will also try to look at boxers
from BC or Alberta that have moved to places
where there is greater opportunity for
success and decent paydays.

it will not be a history lesson of past decades,
but a focus on the recent couple of years.

Province of Albertahas been Edmonton.  To help with the awarenes and

stepped onto the professional boxing highway for a long
and winding journey under the bright lights and to the sound of the bell.

The story will continue with other fine active boxers and a look at
others involved in Canadian Professional Boxing such as trainers,
managers, promoters, ring officials and the folks that tell the stories
in the news, on blogs, on boxing sites and around the globe covering
the "Clouting Canucks" be they slick boxers or knockout kings.

Back to the amateur days for some: 2009

It seems like yesterday when they were still top amateurs and look at
them now such as: Joey Laviolette, Steve Franjic, Mikael Zewski and Didier Bence.

Daniel Trepanier is still involved with the training team members for
Boxing Canada and has attended the various International tournaments.

2013: ROUND TWO: BOXING's ADAM TRUPISH

ADAM "A-Bomb" TRUPISH: by Brian Zelley

As we start page two of the CANADIAN PROFESSIONAL BOXING story
of 2013 and beyond,  I pleased to have selected Canada's lone 208
Olympic boxer and now well established professional ADAM TRUPISH.
A nice start to this page
with this Boxrec piece.
And, our friends at
Boxrec have done a
great job of showcasing
the many active and
past boxers.  But, this
page is 100% ADAM TRUPISH.

Before we get into more detail of the story, it is important to thank Adam
back in 2011 for his positive words for PAUL P-mac MACKENZIE who
was preparing to leave the amateur boxing and make his pro debut.

Those now distant amateur days:
* One of the important highlights for Adam and Boxing Canada was
the lone champion that would compete for Canada in the
2008 Olympic Games.  For so  many Canadians we thank Adam for his
representation, despite the difficulty of being a team of only one boxer.
Adam, also was a member of Canada's 2004 Olympic boxing team.

Canadian amateur boxers have a
long road of Olympic boxing.

Some of our boxers have won
Olympic medals and many have
not, but the important part of
that history is for a moment in
time such as in 2004, the boxers listed were their for the team

For a moment in time, boxers
Andrew Kooner, Benoit Gaudet
Adam Trupish, Jean Pascal
and Trevor Stewardson  would
be there to represent Canada
and their individual provinces
home town and clubs for the
glory of Olympic competition.

* For Adam Trupish, this would
be one part of a long journey in
amateur and professional boxing.
As of 2013, Adam is still competing as a professional boxer with
some outstanding wins.  But to begin the boxing journey, we must
travel back in time to the Windsor Boxing Club in Ontario.  At
the Windsor club, Adam would learn from those such as long time
coach Charlie Stewart.

The Here and Now: Lights, bells and action

March 15th., two weeks before the opening bell for the River Rock rumble.

Introduction to Canadian Boxing

Introduction to Canadian Professiona Boxing:
by Brian W. Zelley

* There are various sources to Canadian Professiona
boxing, but this will be an attempt to look at it
through another set of eyes with no attempt
to rate all of the active boxers, but it will be
necessary to touch base on some of the
Canadian or International champions which will
also consider some of the top amateur boxers of
which some will turn to professional boxing.

Names In The News: (Male Boxers)

Shane Andreeson, Didier Bence,  Troy Ross, Jason Douglas, Paul MacKenzie,
Jean Pascal, Adonis Stevenson, David Lemieux, Fitz Vanderpool, Stuart McLellan.
Adam Trupish, Mikael Zewski, Steve Claggett, Tony Luis,  Ibrahim Kamal,
Logan McGuinness,  Arash Usmanee, Tyler Asselstine, Tyson Cave,
Sebastien Gauthier, Logan McGuinness,  Kevin Bizier, Michael Walchuk,
Andy Mavros,  Junior Moar and Nevin Pajkic.

  THE AMATEUR DAYS:

Be it a Jean Pascal, Paul "P-mac" MacKenzie
or a Joey Laviolette, their boxing stories would
not be complete without some reference about
their amateur days and nights.  Be it in
Montreal, Edmonton, the province of
Nova Scotia.  Each one and the rest of the
Canadian professional boxers made a
contribution to the sport of amateur boxing
which is the real lifeblood of the sport.

Female Professional Canadian  Boxers with ten plus fights in the pro game:
Jeannine Garside, Jelena Mrdjenovich, and Jessica Rakoczy

Not to be Forgotten as the days continue:

*Joey Laviolette wins in his pro debut after a long amateur journey

*Kevin Bizier stops Campbell and Peggy Maerz keeps rolling along.

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RING WARS:

The sport of professional boxing in Canada does not just happen.
In the ring corner, or the gym or behind the curtain of the stage
are many dedicated trainers, managers, promoters,  officials,
and news media types that keep the action flowing be it Montreal,
Edmonton or even Greater Vancouver and many other places.
This blog will attempt to include many of those non-boxers in the
ongoing story.

Some of the names that keep the action or the news moving:
Yvon Michel, Eric de Guzman, John Mendonca, Ace Freeman,
G. M. Ross, Dave Spencer, Chris Johnson, Tyler Buxton
Darell Wambolt and Darren Hauck.

The Road Ahead for Canadian Professional Boxing

There is no telling how this introduction will proceed into new
posts.  But, it will depend on the old economics rule of thumb
"Supply and Demand".  The supply will be based on what
those in the sport do,  but the demand  will be based on what
others want to read.  Therefore, unlike other blogs and stories
it will be based on head counts of how many views this page
receives.  A logical minimum point should be 100 views before
we move forward.  But, for the international reach anything
less than a 1,000 spells FAILURE and will KILL the ongoing
story.  Thus, the future, like professional boxing itself, will
depend on the cruel hard world of ECONOMICS and MARKETING.

As we move beyond this first post, there will be attempt to follow
the stories of some of the active professional boxer.
http://zelleyonboxing.blogspot.ca/2011/10/paul-p-mac-mackenzie-boxing-story.html

* The above link is about one of the former amateur boxers that turned pro
in recent years and his name is PAUL MACKENZIE from Alberta and
touches on his amateur side of his boxing journey

The next Round:
* Due to the initial response in the first 24 hours of this story,  it will
continue with another page that will look at the journey of
Adam Trupish.
